The EnGuard Vessel Guard has been approved by the FDA as a cover for spinal blood vessels following anterior vertebral surgery to act as a barrier against vessel damage.
It is a flexible, layered sheet with superior handling characteristics and outstanding biocompatibility. The hydrogel sheet is composed of polymer, water and a fabric support. The hydrophilic polymer has a high capacity for water absorbing several times its dry weight in fluid.
The EnGuard Vessel Guard is provided prepackaged and sterile.
There is no prep time.
The EnGuard Vessel Guard can be easily inserted between the spinal column and the blood vessels after the major portion of the surgery has been concluded.
The EnGuard Vessel Guard can be cut to size without fraying and can be affixed to the surrounding soft tissue, periosteum or directly to the vertebra(e) using sutures, staples or an autoclip.
