Smith & Nephew Trigen Intramedullary Nail (Implant 2008202)

About Smith & Nephew Trigen Intramedullary Nail (Implant 2008202)

Femoral nail that was implanted in Cyprus but now needs to be removed in The Netherlands.  Does anyone recognize the nail and know who manufactured it?  My thanks in advance, Remco Abspoel

Submitted as un unidentified implant by Remco Abspoel, Product Specialist, Oudshoorn BV, OSS, The Netherlands

Identified by the following orthopaedic professionals as a Smith & Nephew Trigen Intramedullary Nail
Joshua Clark, Orthopaedic Sales Consultant
Alex Escobar, Msc, MD, Paley Orthopedic and Spine Institute
Daniel Chan, MD, Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Memorial Healthcare System
Kevin Brown, "Device Nation" podcaster, Zimmer Biomet Distributor

Removal Tips from the above professionals (Don't overlook the end cap!)

Chan:  "... The Trigen base instrument tray has a threaded conical extraction bolt that is ideal for these situations where the nail is countersunk (after end cap removal) and threading on the original inserted can be challenging."

Lepper:  "...The end cap is cannulated which can help make removal easier.  Definitely want the Trigen instruments for the removal as the screws (and end cap) require a 4.7mm hex driver."
