About APEX Bipolar™ (Prod 9714)
The APEX Bipolar™ femoral head replacement has been designed to provide surgeons with an alternative to total hip replacement. In some instances, only the femoral head is damaged, and the acetabulum still has a healthy cartilage cover. This allows surgeons to perform a hemiarthroplasty, and replacing just one side of the joint. A normal femoral prosthetic is used, but in conjunction with the Bipolar head. The APEX Bipolar system implements a freely articulating head inside a larger ball sized to accurately replicate the natural femoral head.
