About Optimized Blade Plates
Optimized blade plates for tibial head osteotomy have been successfully used since 1979. With the optimized blade plate the shape of the holes and their arrangement on the plate let the screw heads glide more easily into the recesses, allowing for angles of up to 60° between the screws and the blade. This in turn allows for a reduction of the shearing forces in the region of the osteotomy and enhances the tension-banding effect. The bevels on the improved blade plate and on the accompanying blade chisel are neutral. This makes it easier to drive the blade in the chosen direction, than it would be with the single-bevel leading edge of conventional blade plates.
